The Rolling Valley Swim and Tennis Club (RVSTC) Board, in conjunction with our management company NV Pools, has been closely monitoring the evolving situation related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and public health advice. For each decision we need to make, our priority is the safety of RVSTC’s community of members, volunteers, and staff.
Throughout the spring RVSTC has been actively preparing for the safe opening of the pools. A wide range of eventualities have been considered in this preparation and those continue to become more clear as we move into late spring towards summer.
To date, we have:
Partnered with a group of over 40 (and growing) Northern Virginia swim clubs that meet weekly to share best practices and share resources. This group will continue to provide valuable information as we move through the summer.
Maintained proper operation of the pools in preparation for opening.
Purchased hand sanitizing stations.
Purchased acrylic barriers to be placed at our desk between guards and patrons.
Prepared an online reservation system through our updated membership platform.
Planned various modifications to our operating plan in accordance to Virginia requirements and CDC guidelines
Developed and successfully implemented an operating plan for Phase 1
Developed an operating plan for Phase 2
When our region entered Phase 1 of Virginia’s reopening the Virginia Department of Health allowed outdoor pools to open for individual lap lane swimming. RVSTC was prepared to offer this opportunity to our members. During Phase 1 each member is allowed to reserve one lane per block of time (as available) per day for individual lap lane swimming. (Swimmers eligible to reserve a lane must be at least 7 years of age. If younger than 12 years of age the swimmer needs to pass the swim test this year.) RVSTC will be closed to guests. Reservations are made using our online reservation system at www.rvstc.org. In accordance with Virginia Department of health requirements the pool deck will remain closed for use during Phase 1. Changing areas will not be used so swimmers need to arrive dressed to swim. Restroom facilities will be available for emergency use and masks must be worn if entering the building.Tennis courts remain available for play. The board reminds players to practice social distancing while using the courts and encourages the use of the online reservation system.
Although the pool experience during the phased reopening guidelines will be different than in normal circumstances, we know that Rolling Valley Swim and Tennis Club is a valuable resource to our community. Now more than ever our members need to get outside and enjoy fresh air and sunshine to help alleviate the stresses of recent months. As we move through the summer the RVSTC Board will provide you with updates and any changes, particularly as we move through Phase 2 and beyond.
Phase 3 (Please see attached PDF for Phase 3 plan.)
Phase 3 has begun at the pool. You may now swim for recreation and the baby pool is open. The reservation system remains with more lanes open (diving/lounge tables are on a different grid, make sure you see the pull-down menu for selections). Guests and deliveries are still not allowed, masks must be worn except at tables and in the water, and 10 feet must be maintained at all times between members NOT of the same family. Please see the attached PDF for more detials. As we move through the summer the RVSTC Board will provide you with updates and any changes, particularly as we move through Phase 3 and beyond.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Sincerely, Your Rolling Valley Swim and Tennis Club Board
